Sky is the limit, but not in New York,
where even reaching the sky is easy
More and more frequently, I surprise myself thinking and identifying New York as a never ending source of spur and energy.
This energy marks the pace of that incredible flow of people, encounters and events that make New York so unique and special and of which I tell you about very often inside my blog (with a smile on my face, I must admit).
It’s not just about passion or love for a place and for its people.
It’s more the need to turn into words my feelings and impressions of a city that, no matter with how many words we describe it, it will never be the same for each one of us.
I love to live it and tell about it in my personal way, throughout my experiences, my daily impressions and my inevitable exchanges.
I want to surprise you once again showing a different NY, special and magical, without any doubt… from the most suggestive (and high) observatory terraces, the Rooftops.
I want to show you three terraces with panoramic view (mostly used by new yorkers to relax and chat after work) in three different spots in town, with ad hoc aperitifs and a number of people from different nationalities whom you can compare with.
And then, in front of you, the astonishment: Manhattan’s thousands of lights are the background of a scenary that you will never forget!
My favourite Rooftop?
Certainly The Skylark, one of the most spectacular.
It consists of a double panoramic terrace, a covered one for the winter nights and an oper air one on the next floor overlooking the horizon; both are well looked after, with a big bar, cocktail area, private areas, sofas and open spaces.
What about the view?
Try and imagine being hanging right over the middle of Midtown, with Times Square’s lights on one side (for once, incredibly underneath) and the pale and foggy lights of the Empire State Building on the other. In one word, a dream.
Then there are the Mad 46 and Indigo rooftops, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Freedom Tower, completely lit up.
There are so many of these and not only in Manhattan.
Remember that often these locations are rented by businessmen and celebrities for their private parties, making the rooftops closed of for the entire night.
If you have in programme a journey to the Big Apple I must advise this unique experience but not before having spend two or three days in NY’s urban jungle.
Trust me, lost among Manhattan’s rooftops you will notice even more its contrasts and hypnotic charm!
So enjoy it, then keep calm and come to New York.
Further advice
If you decide to take part in a Rooftop Tour you must be 21 years old. If not, your access to the terrace will be forbidden. You will be asked for personal identification, so it is better to always have your passport or identity card with you.
Coming to these places requires a specific attire, so no flipflops or summer shorts, neither trainers or winter boots. Casual/chic will be ok.
